For 31 young hopefuls this week will mark the tail end of four years of hard work, sweat, tears and brainstorming for creative new ideas. On March 30 the final year undergraduates of the Fashion Design & Product Development Degree Course of the Department of Textiles and Clothing Technology of the University of Moratuwa will showcase their collections at the annual Graduation Fashion Show.

Along with that one night of artistic showmanship, the graduating class of 2015 is offering the public a preview of their work over this weekend. The “Flat Work” exhibition is a collection of their ideas and development work, allowing the audience to get a closer look at their beginnings and the intricate work they have progressed to in their quest to become designers. The exhibition will showcase the pieces of both fashion and textile students with an assortment of exhibits based on silhouettes as well as woven and knitted fabrics.

The design development work and experimental portfolios of the graduating students will be held today, March 29 at the JDA Perera Gallery (from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.)
