March 6 deadline for complaints regarding school admissions and other issues

The Ministry of Education will continue to entertain complaints until March 6, from aggrieved parents of children unable to gain admission to government schools.

Several counters have been established to receive such complaints during week days. All requests and complaints will be thoroughly investigated and suitable solutions found, the Education Ministry said.

The decisions taken will be final and will not be changed by the Minister or the Secretary, the communiqué further mentioned.
Earlier, consequent to discussions between the Minister and ministry officials, the number of investigating officers was increased to 50.
This investigation unit will be under the direct supervision of an Additional Secretary with all necessary facilities provided

All complaints, especially pertaining to National schools, and other schools, as well as issues related to the Education sector, can be directed to this unit.

Complaints can be made from any telephone on 1988 or the investigation unit on 011-2 785 070, while written complaints should be addressed to, The Additional Secretary (Administration & Finance), Investigation Unit, Ministry of Education, ‘Isurupaya’, Battaramulla.
