Malintha Gajanayake continued his excellent batting form with a classic century (105 in 96 balls, inclusive of 4 sixes and 11 fours) for Hilton Colombo Residencies, to steer them to a resounding 100 runs win over Hemas Group in the ongoing 12th Ceylon Cold Stores PLC sponsored, ‘Elephant House Lemonade’ Trophy, MCA Division ‘C’ 40-over League Tournament 2015, continued last Sunday.

This was Hilton Colombo Residencies third successive win, having earlier beaten Delmage Group and AMW Group. Sunday’s second centurion was Rukmal Madushan from Polytex Garments, who scored 101 in 110 balls, inclusive of three sixes and 10 fours. But Madushan’s lone effort did not bear fruit for Polytex, as they went down fighting to McLarens by 13 runs.

Three half centuries by P. Chinthaka (52), U. Danthanarayana (50) and S. Dinesh (57 not out) gave Treleborg Lanka the satisfaction of securing their first win after two defeats, as they edged out Asian Alliance Insurance by three wickets with nine balls to spare.

Earlier on, Yasas Perera top scored for Asian Alliance Insurance with a swashbuckling 91 runs in 49 balls, inclusive of eight sixes and equal number of fours which helped them to put up a challenging total of 269 runs in 36.1 overs.

The bowling honours went to the left-arm, medium pacer, Nalinda Channa (8-1-37-5), whose effort gave David Pieris Motor Co. a three-wicket win over SL Telecom ‘A’; Thus, Nalinda Channa over shadowed the batting efforts of N. Ramachandra (57) and K. Bandaranayake (81) for SL Telecom ‘A’, who batted first and scored 199 runs in 35.3 overs. The tournament continues this weekend, with a card of nine matches.
