Army dethrone defending champs Moors SC
Army emerged Inter-Club Division ‘A’ Billiard and Snooker champions when they dethroned defending champions Moors SC in a thrilling seven set final played at the Otters AC billiard table in Colombo.
The seven set final saw Army coming out winners in a ding-dong battle as they pulled off a close 4-3 win over the hot favourites that comprised of top notch players.
However Moors SC managed to retain the Division ‘B’ title when they overcame Army with the same winning margin of 4-3 in the seven set final.
Army went on to clinch a double when they bagged the Division ‘C’ title with Moors SC being their victim again. But the winning margin was an easy 4-1 victory.
Army was denied a triple of titles by Automobile AC who got the better of them by a comfortable 5-2 win in the Division ‘D’ final. In fact Army was the defending champions.
However the Army side came out on top as the most successful team when they qualified to all the four finals and succeeded in winning two of them.
The Inter-Cub Billiard and Snooker tournament conducted by the Billiards and Snooker Association of Sri Lanka saw the participation of eleven clubs.
