S. Thomas’ record fourth outright win
S. Thomas’ recorded their fourth outright win of the ongoing Under-19 inter-school cricket season with an easy ten wicket win over St. John’s Jaffna in the match concluded at Mt. Lavinia yesterday.
The match was also played for the Rev. A.J.C. Selvaratnam Trophy which was the fourth in the series. The Thomians chasing just 36 runs for victory reached the target in 5.5 overs.

The Thomians having dominated the opening day’s play kept up the momentum on day two as they had the Johnians struggling for survival.
The opening day’s play saw the Thomians taking first lease of the wicket making a modest score of 214, which came on the back of an unbeaten knock of 70 by Dulanja Silva and they had the Johnians struggling on 56 for 6 when play stopped on day one.
St. John’s resuming from their overnight score of 56 for 6 put in some resistance through Harold Laksi and E. Shanker to end with a score of 110 but was unable to prevent them from being asked to follow-on.
With a deficit of 104 runs Johnians were badly placed on 64 for 6 before a 50-run partnership between Thevarajah Kajeepan who made a top score of 45 and Vasanthan Jathusan for the seventh wicket delayed the Thomian victory.
