Races at Pannala today
View(s):Pannala Speed 2014, a competitive motor racing event jointly organised by Carlton Motor Sports, Negombo Motor Sports Club, Sri Lanka Racing Drivers and Riders and Asian Motor Racing Club, will be held at the Pannala Race Track today.
The Pannala Race Track which is one of the top favourite tarmac circuits when it comes to hosting classy motor racing events is expected to fill with action today with top racing drivers of Sri Lanka in contention.
“The Pannala Track did not see much of action during 2014 as racing events was taking place in a number of other locations around the island. Many competitors were unhappy as Pannala was one of their favourite tracks to show the prowess of the man and machine. Therefore the organising clubs have decided to conduct one final race for the year at Pannala and give the local heroes a chance to prove their might,” an official press release issued by the joint organising committee stated.
The day will come to light with all motor cars set to burn the asphalt with all the machinery prepped to the limit. During the year, many of these local talents took part in many races and entertained hundreds of thousands of loyal motor sports fans around the country. Entry for spectators will be free of charge and the races will start at 8.30am.
