Carromites (Gold) emerge champs
The curtain came down in the Inter-Club League Carrom Championship 2014 at the Carrom Federation Headquarters, Maharagama last week-end when in the Men’s ‘A’ Division Carromites (Gold) emerged champs while in the Women’s ‘A’ division Sri Lanka Navy swept the board to be crowned as winners.
In the Men’s ‘B’ Division finals Wariyapola Rangers overcame Carromites (Pink) 3/1 and in the ‘C’ Division Rangers (Fed) beat Rangers (Benz) 3/2 and in the Women’s ‘C’ segment it became a home and home battle between R&A SC ‘A’ and R&A SC ‘B’ and at the end R&A SC ‘A’ emerged with a 2/1 win.
The Men’s ‘A Division finals became a tense battle when Sri Lanka’s No.1 Chamil Cooray and World Champ and No. 2 Nishantha Fernando locked horns for Carromites (Gold) and Sri Lanka Navy respectively.
Women’s ‘A’ champs Sri Lanka Navy was represented by Sri Lanka’s No. 1 and No. 2 Joseph Roshita and Chalani Lakmali Liyanage along with T. Sammani.
The next event in the Carrom calendar for 2014 will be the 12th Rangers Open Ranking Carrom Championship which is to be commenced on November 1 at the Carrom Federation Headquarters, Maharagama.
