The 3rd edition of the Murali Harmony Cup will commence on October 29 and will be played over for five days upto December 2.

This five day event featuring under 19 Schoolboys and under 23 Women cricketers is scheduled to be played at five different venues across Northern Sri Lanka in the towns of Jaffna, Oddusuddan, Mankulam and Killinochchi.

Since the inauguration of this popular event in 2012, had been expanded to a total of 24 teams meaning a total of 360 cricketers and most of the participants coming from disadvantaged rural schools.

A total number of sixteen Boys teams in four groups will play in a league in the preliminary round. The eight Ladies teams also will play in two groups and likewise in the boys segment they also will play in a league basis in the preliminary round.

The two semi-final matches of the Boys will take place on November 1 at the Killinochchi Central College Grounds with the first semi-final to start at 9.50 a.m. and the second to start at 2.00 p.m.

The finals of the Boys and Ladies will be played at the Jaffna Central College Grounds on November 2 (Sunday) with the Ladies finals is scheduled to be played at 9.50 a.m. and the Boys finals will start at 2.00 p.m. followed by the presentation of awards.

The two previous Boys tournaments were won by St. Peter’s College who will be favourites this year too while Sri Lanka Army and Shakthi Ladies, Anuradhapura emerged champs in the ladies segment respectively.

However, the favourites St Peter’s will face stiff opposition from All Island Champs Richmond College, Galle Ananda College and the traditionally strong Jaffna Combined Schools.

BOYS’ GROUPS:

Group ‘A’

Preliminary round matches to be played at St. Patrick’ College Grounds, Jaffna
1. Jaffna Combined Schools, 2. Ananda College Colombo,
3. Prince of Wales College Moratuwa and 4. Combined International Schools

Group ‘B’

Preliminary round matches to be played at Jaffna Central Grounds
1. Batti/Trinco Combined Schools, 2. Richmond College Galle, 3. Karandeniya Central College, 4. S. Thomas’ College, Bandarawela

Group ‘C’

Preliminary round matches to be played at Killinochchi Central College Ground
1. Kilinochchi/Mullaitivu Combined Schools, 2. St. Peter’s College Colombo’ 3. Seenigama Combined Schools
4. Monaragala/Badulla Combined Schools

Group ‘D’

Preliminary round matches to be played at Mullaitivu/IODR Oval
1. Mannar/Vavuniya Combined Schools 2. Devapathiraja College Rathgama, 3. Maris Stella College Negombo,
4. Polonnaruwa District Combined Schools

LADIES CLUBS GROUPS:

All preliminary round matches to be played at Mankulam

Group ‘A’

1. Shakthi Ladies’ Anuradhapura, 2. Kurunegala YCC Ladies, 3. Matale Ladies and
4. Badulla Ladies
Group ‘B’
1. Nittambuwa Ladies,
2. Seenigama Ladies,
3. Polonnaruwa Ladies and
4. North/East Combined
Ladies.

As there are no semi-finals in the Ladies segment, leaders of each group will play in the finals at Jaffna College Grounds.
