Indian workers giving the final touches to the renovated Jaffna Railway Station from where President Mahinda Rajapaksa will launch the new Yal Devi service tomorrow. But as plans were finalised for this ceremony, commuters were stuck at the Vavuniya Station yesterday waiting for trains that did not come to take them to Colombo or other destinations. This was due to a two-day railway strike and the cancellation of some services yesterday apparently because of the President’s visit.
