A Coroner’s Court heard how a four-and-a-half-year old boy -Senura Dulneth- a resident of Palathota, Kalutara died when an unfitted window frame fell on him on Wednesday (08.10.2014). The accident apparently occurred when the deceased child attempting to get into the house through a window, had placed an unfitted window frame against the wall and attempted to creep in through a window.

Anura Indika 38, the father of the deceased child giving evidence at the post mortem inquiry held at the Colombo National Hospital that his wife was in a separate room with their younger son and he was washing clothes. He said his son Senura had tried to climb onto the window by climbing on to another window frame, which was yet to be fitted. He said the child had lost his footing and fallen and the window frame had fallen onto him.

He added the boy was seriously injured and bleeding from his nose and head.  Mr. Indika said he rushed his son to the Kalutara town hospital in a three-wheeler. From there the child was transferred to the Colombo National Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries the following evening. The JMO of the hospital Dr. H.D.S.C. Appuhamy said death was caused by to severe damage to the skull and excessive bleeding from the nose.  A verdict of accidental death was issued by the hospital Inquirer into Sudden Death Ashroff Rumi.
