Eon conceived, designed and produced exclusively for the South Asian market will enter the Sri Lankan roads at a starting price of Rs. 2 million, affordable for Sri Lankans especially the middle income earners, Managing Director of Hyundai Lanka (Pvt) Lt H.A. Reuter told the Business Times on the sidelines of the launching event.

“This small car has been specifically built to meet the varied road conditions and special requirements of the customers here,” he said, adding that it will further expand our market share in the fast-growing small car segment in the Sri Lankan market.

Hyundai Eon has a number of high-end features such as an 814 cc three cylinder petrol engine, tilt steering, 215 litre luggage space and built in stereo with extended radio frequency range.
This small car is also targeted at young first time buyers who have just started earning and young families that are looking for its first car, Director of the company, Gehan Siribaddana said.

The vehicle is also known for its low fuel consumption. While the manufacturer claims an average fuel consumption of 21.1 kms per litre, Mr. Siribaddana said that given Sri Lankan road and driving conditions that it would run 18 km per litre in the outstations and 14.5 km in Colombo city.
The Eon comes with a warranty of three years or 100,000 km. Hyundai Lanka also offers leasing facilities to buyers through their official tie-up with financial partners Hatton National Bank, Commercial Leasing Company, LB Finance, Citizens Development Business Finance PLC and Nation Trust Bank, Mr. Siribaddana revealed.
