Bloomfield records thrilling two run win
Bloomfield recorded a thrilling two-run win over Badureliya SC with a day to spare in their Premier Plate Championship cricket encounter at the Air Force ground in Katunayake yesterday. Bloomfield resuming on their overnight score of 35 for 2 being bowled out for 175 and Badureliya SC set a target of 178 runs for victory was sitting pretty on 175 for 8 lost their remaining two wickets at the score giving Bloomfield a thrilling victory.Chilaw Marians resuming on their overnight score of 328 for 6 went on to amass 486 against Air Force at the Surrey Village ground in Maggona.
The foundation for the massive score was laid by skipper Sahan Wijeratne who made 132 on day one which was followed by a 101 by Umesh Karunaratne. Air Force in their turn ended day two on 144 for 2.
Colts have already obtained a close first innings win over Panadura SC at the FTZ ground in Katunayake. Colts in reply to Panadura SC’s 207 made 227.
