The group plans to once again make waves in the choral music scene, with ‘The Playlist’ to be held on November 9 and 10 at the British School Auditorium.

Established two years ago in Bangalore by Maneesh Dasanayake- then a university student- the group soon became Bangalore’s number one choral group in the city’s largest choir competition. On returning to Sri Lanka Maneesh initiated the Sri Lankan branch of ‘Vocal Enigma’ in April. The group has hosted three charity fundraising shows in India titled ‘Humanitas’. This show will be the second charity fundraising show hosted in Sri Lanka, which comes on the back of an immensely successful first concert last year – “From a Distance”

The 30 choristers of Vocal Enigma hail from diverse musical backgrounds, underscoring the group’s penchant for performing several different genres. “The group also consists of members who have a theatre and dance background and therefore using their expertise we are able to formulate interesting choreography routines into our line-up. We are a gathering of diverse people united by one common passion- music. This is our driving and binding force as we grow as musicians, entertainers, friends and family,” elaborates Shehan Wijemanne.

“The Playlist” will feature contemporary songs. The connotation being that every song you hear will be something that you would generally have on your own playlist.

The choir includes Maneesh Dasanayake, Eshan Denipitiya, Vanya Goonathilake, Nuran Gomez, Shehan Wijemanne, Dave Fernandez, Dineli Sun, Ashwin Joseph, Anjula Kurukulasuriya, Lakshini Liyanaratchi, Liza DeJong, Nalini Wijeratne, Shalini Dasanayake, Randini Nanayakkara, Ashani De Silva, Janice Hepponstall, arena Navaratne, Praveeni Alahakoon, Maria Gomez, Dilshi Amarasekara, Oshin Dias Abeygunawardena, Andrea Gomez, Harold Elanco, Shehan Jayasekara, Chathuranga Goonathilake, Danile De Silva, Jeremy John De Zilwa, Steven Neydoff, Eraj Perera, Stephan Pereira, and Ranuk Wijesinghe.
