‘This is It’- the ultimate Choral Concert organised by Choro Calibre Youth Choir together with the All Saints Parish Community will come alive at the BMICH on 22 October to celebrate their fouth anniversary. Choro Calibre is a unique, diverse and versatile 20 member youth choir comprising talented singers- both male and female who have all been nurtured by leading school choirs of Sri Lanka.

‘Choro Calibre’ choir was formed in 2009 by Shamal de Silva who has already got a string of accomplishments behind him.  The Choir is poised to challenge boundaries of choral music and surprise the audience with their diverse talent at this concert. ‘Choro Calibre will showcase the best of our choral singing and dancing across abroad range of segments encompassing music ranging from classics to modern to rock in a variety of styles and languages’ said Shamal.

‘Choro Calibre’ Youth Choir participated at the ‘Asia Cantate 2012’ was awarded a Silver diploma in the folk category and two bronze diplomas in the Chamber category. The proceeds from this Concert will be donated to the extension project of the community building of All Saint’s Church, Borella.
ASIA CANTATE also introduced the first ever Voices of Asia Prize. It was to be awarded to the choir with the best performance of a piece of Asian choral music.
In 2010 they released a Christmas album titled ‘Feliz Navidad’ under the Torana Music label. Subsequently the choir released an Original single ‘Ape Naamaya Sri Lanka’ in view of the Cricket World Cup 2011. The song was penned by Luigi Bernard, Shamal and a few other members of the choir.

The Choir is a regularly active in the wedding arena and is seen at adding melodious tunes at many weddings in the Colombo circle. But Christmas tends to be the busiest time for these dynamic set of individuals who are seen at many hotels belting out some of the best known carols.
