Multi-talented artist and award-winning playwright Ananda Senaratne will release his first album while launching five books written by him on August 16 at 3 pm at the Colombo Public Library auditorium. 

Tittled ‘Wessa’ (Rain), the CD contains 12 songs written and music composed by Ananda which were sung with a number of female singers including Amila Nadeeshani, Priyani Jayasinghe and Chandani Warusakon.

Born in Kurunegala Ananda completed his studies in the Science stream and joined civil aviation department as an additional director. Having gained international exposure on civil aviation, he entered art producing ‘Panchali’ stylized drama of Nadagama which won four State Drama awards in 2008.

“I have never studied drama or anything before but having studied science I suddenly produced a play in 2007 with sheer interest because there was a hidden artist within me,” Ananda explains regarding his entry in to theatre. Having followed Mass Media diploma, Ananda who became the best student in the course produced a CD with a collection of songs written, composed and sung by him.
