Hotel Clarion has been instrumental and fully involved in the launch of the first career educational fair and seminar. Clarion Hotel School, a hotel school within a star class hotel, accepted the City & Guilds certification at this event as well.

The main objective of the Clarion Career Education Fair & Seminar is to give an insight into the hospitality trade to the general public. There were special seminars organized on the areas like food & beverage, professional cookery, hotel front office and hotel housekeeping. There was a showcase of special ice carvings, vegetable carvings cake decorations and cookery demonstrations.

Clarion Hotel School strives to produce and be part of Sri Lanka’s strategy to promote Tourism and to contribute qualified work force, giving consideration to the demand for skilled and experienced hotel staff in Sri Lanka, and with the boom in tourism now happening, Hotel Clarion has established this Hotel School and hopes to fill the skills gap in the hospitality sector, with the assistance ofawarding bodies of City & Guilds and TVEC.

Managing Director of Hotel Clarion, Mr. Dhanuja Pathirana, speaking to the Media at the opening of the Career Guidance Fair and Seminar on 3rd May, spoke of the essence in floating a platform for lifelong learning and career growth for both A/L and O/L students. As a corporate social responsibility initiative, Clarion Hotel School is offering scholarships to discerning students in dire need of such career opportunity for their personal growth from the locality.

Chief Guests at the auspicious opening was Mr. S. Kalaiselvam, former Director General, Sri Lanka Tourism, Francisco Jayalth Perera, Director Operations of General Chemicals Industriesand Mr. Mufthy Hashin, Regional Manager (South Asia) City & Guilds, were part of the invitees at the opening ceremony. The Chairman of the Hotel Clarion also presented at the head teble.

The Career Fair & Seminars were held for two consecutive days, with the assistance of CHI Lecturers and a renowned motivational Speaker. The media, both print and electronic lent support in coverage of this special occasion.

The Clarion Hotel School will be commencing on the 20th May and would cover all areas of a typical Hotel School offering professional cookery, food & beverage, front office and General Operations. The admissions are now open till the 20th.
