It is wrong for the United National Party to bring a No Confidence Motion against the present Minister of Power and Energy Ms. Pavithra Wanniarachchi as she is only a puppet on a string.

The only technically qualified minister in the Cabinet is Champika Ranawaka, and why he was removed is another matter. To have replaced him with Ms.Wanniarachchi who is a novice at the game seems ridiculous.

With a 2/3rd majority in parliament laws could be passed with ease. The majority knows what is happening in the country but are frightened to lose their positions and perks if they disagree. We have the world’s largest Cabinet who helplessly waits for the President to resolve their problems.

This is evident from the President’s speech at the May Day rally regarding the electricity hike. He realises the problems of the commoner who struggles to make ends meet.
