Dialog Axiata and its subsidiaries this week reported that its first quarter 2012 revenue was Rs 15.24 billion, up 19 per cent from Q1 2012 and 2 per cent from Q4 2012.

In the same review period, group EBITDA (Earnings Before Interest, Tax, Depreciation and Amortisation) was recorded at Rs 4.98 billion.
“The strong increase in EBITDA was driven in the main by higher revenue combined with the recognition of Rs 429 million accruing from a TDC (Telecommunications Development Charge) refund received during the quarter,” the company said.

Group post-tax profit for the quarter reached Rs. 1.59 billion, compared to a net loss of Rs. 531 million in the corresponding 2012 quarter owing to the recording of an exceptional non-cash translational foreign exchange loss of Rs. 2.1 billion.

DTV, the digital pay television business of the Dialog Group, consolidated growth with the subscriber base rising by over 47,000 subscribers YoY to 274,000 as at end Q1 2013.
