For the first time in cinematic history and International Film Award presentations an actor of Sri Lankan descent or origin is chosen to be a ‘special’ presenter among the more famous stars of the Hollywood Film Industry. New rising Sri Lankan-Australian actor Frederick James Koch, who played a significant roles in the film ‘A Common Man’ along with Academy Award winners, Sir Ben Kingsley (Gandhi, HUGO) and Ben Cross (Chariots Of Fire) has been specially selected by the committee of the New York Film Festival to do the honours as a presenter at this prestige Festival.

He will be a presenter at Awards to be held in Las Vegas on Tuesday, 9 April. The film ‘A Common Man’ directed by Chandran Rutnam has already been nominated for major awards at the Madrid Film Festival, St. Tropez Film Festival and the New York Film Awards and Festival of Broadcasting, which is the biggest event in the world of film and broadcasting.Frederick, son of well-known singer and entertainer Alston Koch played one of the significant roles in the film ‘A Common Man’ along with some of the top Academy Award winners.

On March 15 the film was to premiered in Beverley Hills’ ‘The Musical Hall’ which saw the launch of films like ‘DR. ZHIVAGO’, ‘Lawrence Of Arabia’ and ‘Gone With The Wind’.

Editor of the film James Putnam specially mentions in his blurb that the screen lights up the moment Koch makes his debut. Koch graduated from the Actors Centre (ACA) that has produced Hugh Jackman, currently patron and graduated from AFTRS currently studying screen writing etc from the same school that gave us Alex Proyas and Academy Award winning film makers such as Jane Campion (The Piano).

Filmed entirely in Sri Lanka it also stars Patrick Rutnam and a host of other popular Sri Lankan actors and actresses.
