Top sportswomen honoured at Musaeus Sports Awards Ceremony

Musaeus College Colombo held its annual Sports Awards Ceremony at the school’s main auditorium on January 24, in front of a large gathering.

The school felicitated its sportswomen, who excelled during the year 2012 in their respective sports disciplines. Among the top recipients were 21 girls who had the privilege of representing the school and the country at the international level. They were Nethmi de Silva, Sachini Samarasinghe, Sachini Ranasinghe, Panchali Perera, Lithma Kumaradasa, Dilhara Wickramasinghe, Heshani Jayalath, Shrinika Gamage, Ransimala Weerasooriya, Amanda Jayasekara, Mandakini Gunasekara, Kavindi Senarath, Ruwini Kannangara, Charini Jinadasa, Dinithi Nanayakkara, Avishi Samarasinghe, Piyumi Rodrigo, Binmi Rathnayake, Kisharadee Wijemanne, Gayathri Mayadunne and Sushmitha Illangakoon. The chief guest of the event was former President of Board of Control for Cricket in Sri Lanka and current president of the Sri Lanka Golf Union, Ana Punchihewa.

National badminton champion and Olympian Niluka Karunaratne and Chairman of Musaeus College Ajita de Zoysa were the guests of honour. The event was organised with the backing and direction of Musaeus officials, principal S. Dandeniya, deputy principal C. Jayathilaka, vice principal R. Gunaratna, headmistress of the primary section S. Tennakoon, prefect of games Shyamali Jayaratne and games captain Vinuri Wickramasekara.
