The fifth annual road race, conducted by Sri Rahula College Katugastota, was held last week. It covered a distance of ten kilometers for boys and five kilometers for girls.

Sri Rahula’s proudest product, Milina Kumari Seneviratne, who placed fifth at the junior Asian Athletics Championship, held in Sri Lanka last year, won the girls event for the fourth successive year.

Milina also won gold at the Sir John Tarbet meet, recording a time of 4 minutes 45.7 secs in the 1500 metres. In doing so, she broke a twenty-year-old record held by Udeni Kanchanamala.

The boys’ road race was intensely competitive, and the first three runners were not separated until almost the end.
