Dr. Sangadasa (Sange) de Silva has been awarded the Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Medal by the government of Canada. This prestigious commemorative medal is a way “to pay tribute to Canadians whose achievements have benefited their fellow citizens, their community, their organisation and the country”.

A past pupil of Devapathiraja College in Rathgama, Dr. de Silva holds a B.Com (Hons) from the University of Peradeniya, a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) and a Ph.D.(Sociology) from the University of Alberta, Canada.

Prior to his recent retirement Dr.de Silva has held several senior executive positions with the government of Canada. He has served as the Executive Director of the Canadian Centre for Justice Statistics, Director General at Health Canada, at Statistics Canada and at the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA).
