HNB Assurance appoints new Directors
View(s):HNB Assurance recently appointed three respected business personalities to its board of directors. They are Jonathan Alles,Mahendra Jayasekera andKandasamypillai Balasundaram.
Jonathan Alles is currently the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Hatton National Bank PLC and a Director of Sithma Development (Pvt) Ltd, Acuity Partners (Pvt) Ltd, Acuity Stockbrokers ( Pvt) Ltd and Lanka Ventures PLC. He is a Trustee of the Hatton National Bank Retirement Fund. Alles is an Associate Member of the Institute of Bankers of Sri Lanka and a Member of Sri Lanka Institute of Directors. He holds a First Class MBA from the University of Sterling, Scotland and has over 25years of experience in Banking including 15 years of overseas assignments
Mahendra Jayasekera joined Lanka Floortiles PLC in August 1997 as Executive Director and was appointed as Managing Director in January 2002 and continues to hold the same position at present. In April 2008 he was appointed the Managing Director of Lanka Walltiles PLC, the holding Company of Lanka Floortiles PLC. He is the Managing Director of Swisstek (Ceylon) PLC, Swisstek Aluminium Ltd and a Director of Lanka Ceramic PLC.Mr. Jayasekera holds a BSc Special (Hons) degree in Business Administration from the University of Sri Jayawardenapura and is a Fellow Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka.
Kandasamypillai Balasundaram is currently the Chief Executive Officer of Mercantile Merchant Bank Ltd. In addition to being a Director of Mercantile Merchant Bank Pathfinder Group of Companies he serves on the Boards of Mountain Hawk Express Private limited (Joint Venture with Hayleys), MMBL Money Transfer Private Limited (Joint Venture with Aitken Spence), Saffron Airlines Private Limited (Joint Venture with John Keels). He has over 45 years of experience in Finance. Balasundaram has gained experience in Corporate Finance by serving in Manufacturing & Service Industries including Statutory Boards, Board of Investment Companies and Public Quoted Companies.
