The Government has handed out prime Colombo properties to foreign companies at well below market rates, as well as tax holidays, UNP MP Ravi Karunanayaka told Parliament. One beneficiary was the KRRISH group, which has been given a valuable property in Fort at far below its valure.

“The Department of Valuation has assessed these lands at far below market price,” MP Karunanayka said yesterday, during the votes for the Ministry of Economic Development. “When the UNP comes to power, we will revoke these agreements.”

Minister of National Language and Integration Vasudeva Nanayakkara said UNP MP Ravi Karunanayaka should institute legal action if he believed the land had been undervalued.

“When the Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation was privatised, I went before the Supreme Court and had the decision reversed. “You can go to court as well,” he said.
