Royal annihilate S. Thomas’ in cager clash

Royal College defeated S. Thomas’ College by 64 points to 44 to become the very first holders of the Champions Challenge Trophy in their Under 15 basketball fixture, which was played at Reid Avenue recently.

At half time the score was 47 to 31 in favour of the Royalists.

At the end of the first quarter the Thomians were in the lead by18poins to 10. However, the Royalists got their act together to pile up the points, while the Thomians were reduced to being mere spectators.

In the next three sessions of play, while the Royalists piled up 54 points, the Thomians were able to increase their tally by only 26.
For Royal College, Nisal Pinto was in cracking form with 21 points, while Mohamed Zahir 14 and Ragun Rakavan 13 also swelled their score.

For S. Thomas’ Adrian Gunawardena led the way with 18 points, while Senura Gunadasa 11 and Manishan Serasinghe six were also on target.
