Think of the word “design”, fashion, colour, animation and glamour comes to mind. It’s everywhere, be it in your home, shopping mall, or office and involves a wide spectrum of professions.

Multimedia Design graduate student Mr. Satheanpong Chunnvijitra from Raffles Bangkok reached great heights when he won the award for Best Feature Film in the Beverly Hills Film Festival 2009, and Best Documentary in Delray Beach Film Festival 2009 with his imaginative documentary on the Nazi era :“War Against The Weak”. Satheanpong chose to study at Raffles Bangkok because he was able to express his creativity, study with like-minded international students and work together on assignments to achieve the best possible results.

Now you have the opportunity to pursue a design career in Sri Lanka with Raffles Institute of Higher Education Colombo.
Talented final year Raffles Colombo Multimedia Design student, Mr. Samal Bandara, explained why he made the decision to join Raffles:” I was actually referred by a friend, but because of Raffles’ reputation and initial plans to get a degree in design, it was logical for me.” Samal enthused that the best part of college life was meeting new friends, having knowledgeable international lecturers and also the opportunity to work with companies on internships.

In July 2012, Samal produced an animated video for local musician Aryan Dinesh; it gave him the chance to display his skills in visual communication. Samal’s video received extensive airplay in India, Malaysia and also on Sri Lankan TV. Samal also participated in the TNL ONSTAGE 2012 ART & DESIGN competition in August 2012, where he was part of the winning team from Raffles that won the cash prize for the design category.

Samal’s future ambition, he says, is to become an animator or editor. His advice for freshers is to “Study hard and think practical!”

Raffles Institute of Higher Education Colombo was established in 2010 and has been growing strong ever since. Parents choose to send their students to Raffles because they are assured of an international standard quality education available locally.
