The Sri Lanka –China Society along with Devi Balika Vidyalaya will hold an art exhibition for Chinese and Sri Lankan children on September 19 and 20 at the Art Gallery, Colombo 7 from 10 a.m each day. The Ambassador of China will declare open the exhibition on September 19.

“SAARC Splendour” promises just that

‘SAARC Splendour’ organised by the SAARC Women’s Association, Sri Lanka Chapter, led by President, Madhuri Mody, will see an  exciting day of culture and entertainment for people who like music, dancing and the latest fashions from the SAARC region.

7th International Conference on English Language Teaching

The 7th International Conference on ‘Changing Paradigms in English Language Teaching’ of the Sri Lanka English Language Teachers’ Association (SLELTA) was held on September 7 at the Sri Lanka Foundation Institute, Colombo.
The Chief Guest was Education Minister Bandula Gunawardena while the Keynote Speaker was the Vice President for Academic Affairs at Anaheim University, California, Dr. David Nunan.

Y’s Men’s Club sing-along back by popular demand

The Y’s Men’s Club of Mahanuwara has organized “Sing-along – Season 3” in banquet style with Nimal Jayamana and the Hezonites at the Hotel Tourmaline, Kandy on Saturday, September 22 from 7 p.m. onwards.

This third sing–along of vintage and famous songs, is by popular demand after the first two were a resounding success.
The Y’s Men’s Club of Mahanuwara is an affiliate of the Y’s Men’s International and this event will help raise funds for its social service projects.

German Dharmaduta Society marks 60 years

A Sanghika Dana (alms giving) will be offered to 60 Buddhist monks on Sunday, September 23, 2012 at the B.H. William Hall, All Ceylon Buddhist Congress, 380 Baudhaloka Mawatha, Colombo 7, to mark the 60th anniversary of the founding of the German Dharmaduta Society by Asoka Weeraratna on September 21, 1952.

Among the highlights of the day’s proceedings will be the screening of a video documentary focused on the history of the Society and the services rendered by the German Dharmaduta Society during the last 60 years in both Sri Lanka and Germany and the launch of a new website dedicated to Asoka Weeraratna, the founder of the German Dharmaduta Society, Berlin Buddhist Vihara in Germany, and the Mitirigala Nissarana Vanaya (Mitirigala Forest Hermitage).
