Invitation to visit Lanka: No diary entry from Pillay

An invitation extended by the Sri Lanka government for the UN Human Rights Commissioner in Geneva to visit the country is yet to be officially accepted.

Ameen Izzadeen reporting for the Sunday Times from Geneva said so far the invitation has not been recorded in the diary of the UN Human Rights Commissioner.

Acting External Affair Minister D. E. W. Gunasekera told Parliament on Friday that the Government had extended an invitation to the High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay to visit the country and to see the developments for herself.
