The Study, Colombo's London GCE A/L College, holds fifth annual

Prize Giving
The fifth annual Prize Giving and School Leaving Ceremony of The Study was an excellent display of the qualities that have made the school distinctive among institutions offering London GCE A/L education in Colombo. With its emphasis on the breadth and depth of education that will best equip young people for the demands of university, The Study has produced school leavers with an impressive diversity of interests, talents and skills, ready to take on the academic and career challenges awaiting young people upon completion of secondary school studies.

Prizes both for academic merit and for service and special achievements were presented to pupils by the Chief Guest Dr. Indrajith Coomaraswamy, who remarked in his speech upon the diversity of interests and the sense of purpose he encountered in speaking with pupils of the school. Pointing out that this provides an excellent preparation for university study, he also commented admiringly upon the fact that past students of the school are presently pursuing a broad range of subjects at university, including medicine, law, music, engineering, art history and marine biology.

The Principal Miss Jill Macdonald said that Dr. Coomaraswamy's presence as the Chief Guest was particularly encouraging in view of the qualities of integrity, humility, clear thinking and sound judgment for which he is known. These are qualities to which pupils of The Study are expected to aspire, in keeping with the school's mission of developing both the intellectual abilities and the character of the young people in its care.
