Postgraduate Education at University of Westminster, London

Immersed in the academic, business and professional life of a leading world city, the University of Westminster is situated in the heart of London. One of the world's foremost capital cities, London is a great place to study and an exciting place to live.

We are currently inviting applications for our January 2010 session in a number of postgraduate programmes across our academic schools in the areas of Business and Management, Marketing, Finance, Human Resource Management, Information Technology Security, Law, Film, Literary and Cultural Studies and Social, Political and International Studies. As one of our students from Sri Lanka said "The reason I chose Westminster was that there was a wide range of postgraduate courses to choose from and it offered the exact course I was looking for."

For more than 170 years the University of Westminster has been a place where dedicated and creative students have enjoyed a vibrant learning environment graduating with the skills they need to succeed in their chosen career. Each year a diverse mix of students of many backgrounds and abilities join the Westminster family. We have more than 20,000 students, a quarter of whom are postgraduates and including more than 70 students from Sri Lanka. The University offers a truly international environment
with students from over 150 nations studying with us this year.

Our postgraduate courses are career focused. Studying for a postgraduate degree is a challenging, but extremely rewarding experience. You will develop specialist knowledge, hone your professional skills, and enhance your career prospects. We offer a mature study environment and a broad range of courses that respond to and anticipate developments in professional life. Many of the University's courses are accredited by leading organisations in their field, such as: ACCA, CIPD and CIM. We have twice received the Queen's Award for Enterprise in recognition of our 'outstanding achievement' in international trade, and our Scholarships team won the Times Higher Education inaugural award for Outstanding Support for Overseas Students. Westminster's MBA programme is accredited by the Association of MBAs. We have more than 1,000 teaching staff supported by over 400 visiting subject specialists, delivering high-quality learning and research. Our libraries provide access to more than 380,000 books, 25,000 e-journals, e-books, and hundreds of major commercial databases.

In 2008 our communications, art, and architecture research groups were all recognised as world leading. We are also recognised internationally for research in areas such as law, life sciences and the environment, computing, business, and planning. If you are thinking about a full-time postgraduate course, our career service can help you find flexible work while you study. Whatever you choose, the service can help you to develop your employability, and offer advice on your career paths after graduation.

An extensive network of tutors, administrators, counsellors, health service, financial advisors and a Chaplaincy to give support to all faiths is here to support you in every aspect of your life at Westminster, and our lively and active Student's Union offers a large number of student societies for a wide range of interests. With one of UK's largest international student populations, we are experienced in delivering the help and support you need to make your time with us as successful as possible. Before you arrive, you will be sent a full information pack including details of your enrolment, health care and other pre-arrival information. You are a priority for accommodation but are encouraged to apply early.

London provides students with numerous opportunities to work part-time whilst studying. Under the UK government's International Graduate Scheme (IGS) graduates are also eligible to stay in the UK and gain valuable work experience. Westminster has an award winning team of Careers and Student Employment advisors trained to help you find work during and after your studies.
