Sir John Tarbert all island junior athletic championship-2009 organized by the Sri Lanka Schools Athletic Association with the patronage of the Ministry of Education is scheduled to be held at the Albert F. Peiris Stadium, Wennappuwa from 19th-21st June 2009.
Three hundred and sixty schools are listed to take part within the age groups of U12, U13, U14, U15. There will be around 1850 boys and 1430 girls participating in various Track and Field events.
Accommodation for the participating girls will be at Holy Family Convent, Wennappuwa and the boys will be accommodated at Joseph Vaz College, Wennappuwa.
In addition to this event a Mini Marathon for the U20 age group will take place where ‘The K.A. Karunaratne Challenge Trophy’ and ‘The Tamara Padmini Trophy’ will be presented to the winners of the respective boys and girls events. This Event is scheduled to be held on the 21st of June 2009 at 6.00 a.m. all participants are to report to the Albert F. Peiris Stadium, Wennappuwa, for the event with an application certified by the school principal.
