Venerating Vajira their Guru

Sri Lanka’s dancing legend Vajira marked her 77th birthday on March 15 and to invoke blessings on her a ‘Gara Yakuma’, low country dance performance was organized at the Chitrasena Kalayanatanaya last Saturday.

With the portrait of her celebrated husband -- Sri Lanka’s foremost dancer Chitrasena in the backdrop and her children, Upeka and Anjali as well as her grandchildren beside her, it was time to reflect and mark another milestone in the journey of this pioneering dancer.
