Reflections on Are You Ready

To Identify the Limits of the Possible...
You Have to Venture a Little Beyond.... into the Impossible.

Sir Arthur C. Clerk

Above was carried by the project report of the first ever "Are You Ready?" which was held in 1998. This small venture which took place ten years back, laid path to the brain Child of the Rotaract Club of University of Moratuwa, the Official Careers' fair of University of Moratuwa - "Are You Ready?" program.

After the inception of the Club in 1995, Rotaractors of University of Moratuwa were exploring innovative ideas for a breakthrough in the avenue of Professional Development. It was decided to implement a project to bridge the gap between the university & the industry and create a platform where students, industry & staff met together. Here, the main focus was preparing students to face corporate challenges, coordinating with organizations and conducting interviews for level 4 students.

It is the tiny droplets of water which make great seas. Similarly, the project has expanded, where more than 30 companies and 800 students from all batches take part.

Today around 70 club members gather to organise this massive scale event devoting their time, effort, skills and expertise for the University & its students. This year the program consisted of 5 sessions, including an industrial exhibition and a Dining Etiquette and Grooming workshop at the Mt. Lavinia Hotel.

From its inauguration, "Are You Ready?" was recognised as the Best Professional Development Programme in the Rotaract District 3220 - Sri Lanka, securing the crown for the District Professional Development citation consecutively for 11 years. By this day, many people identify the project from its name and it is with pride we say that we have created a brand name called "Are You Ready?" in the industry as well as in the university.

Vive la Rotaract!
