First class travel for probe team
The educating agency that threw out its elected committee in a tussle over governance and control has reportedly spent over Rs 19 million (in foreign currency) on a probe by experts.
This includes first class travel and 5-star accommodation. The report was not even shown to past presidents when requested. Now comes the news that the agency’s councils in two other countries have been suspended and the locals there are considering court action.

Ask the newspaper
The decision of the professional group-that-matters over a matter of ethics relating to a member firm has horrified many in the community.
One concerned business type called the group to find out whether this is true and pat came the answer: “Ask the paper concerned, this is an internal matter.”

Free run of golden hospital
A hospital attached to the troubled, much-in-the-news group recently allowed some ‘potential’ investors in and gave them a complete run of the place on the presumption that they had permission from higher authorities. Officials are now scratching their heads in despair because no permission was given. The visitors took many pictures of the hospital.

Media as a scapegoat
While many are praising the media for the exposure and follow up on the Golden Key fiasco, some depositors are on the other side of the fence – criticizing and harassing reporters when the case regularly comes up at a courthouse just outside Colombo. Come, come, kindly allow the media to do their job impartially.
