President’s Square plan suspended
A multi-million-rupee project to set up a President’s Square in Fort has been suspended on a directive from President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

Amidst protests by the LTTE and the TNA, the Indian government has rejected the controversial Sampur area as the possible site for the construction of a 500-MW coal-fired thermal power project.
 
APRC document out early January
Minister and All-Party Representatives Committee chairman Tissa Vitarana said a document which took into consideration the views expressed by experts’ panel members and APRC deliberations in the past five months will be presented to the committee in early January.
