St. Joseph’s and Lyceum Wattala emerge swimming relay champions
View(s):Swimming powerhouse St. Joseph’s College, Colombo and Lyceum International School, Wattala gained top honours at the National Age Group Relay Swimming Championship concluded at the Sugathadasa Swimming Complex in Colombo. St. Joseph’s swimmers dominated to emerge champions in the Men’s category, while Lyceum Wattala topped the Women’s segment to emerge champions in the annual swimming gala organised and conducted by Sri Lanka Aquatic Sports Union (SLASU).

The Josephian swimmers went on to claim the overall Men’s Championship with a staggering tally of 380 points, followed by Lyceum Wattala, who completed as runners-up with 259 points. With 214 runs, Ananda College finished at third place, while Lyceum International School, Nugegoda followed in with 153 points, slightly ahead of Royal College, who had to settle in at fifth with 150 points. Others to follow in the top ten are Trinity College (142), Sri Lanka Army (124), SNS Swimming Academy, Galle (116), Lyceum International School, Gampaha (114) and St. Peter’s College (98).
Lyceum Wattala topped the Women’s Championship with a tally of 298 points, to edge past Ladies’ College, who had to settle in as runners-up with 286 points. Visakha Vidyalaya was placed third with 206 points, ahead of Musaeus College, who raked in 196 points to secure the fourth position. Finishing at fifth was Lyceum International School, Gampaha, who claimed 178 points to complete among the top five. Hillwood College, Kandy (176), SNS Swimming Academy, Galle (168), Mahamaya College, Kandy (116), Kothalawala Defence Service Academy (90) and Bishop’s College (78), completed the top ten among women’s teams.
