At Nawaloka College of Higher Studies (NCHS), leadership is not just a concept taught in classrooms—it is a value embedded in every aspect of student life.

While NCHS is renowned for offering globally recognised pathways in higher education, it also offers students a dynamic campus culture—where they are encouraged to grow not just academically, but personally. Through meaningful opportunities like the Student Council, students are guided to explore their voice, develop their skills, and lead with purpose.

STUDENT COUNCIL INSTALLATION CEREMONY 2026

The Student Council Installation Ceremony of Nawaloka College of Higher Studies was successfully held on the 5th of March 2026 at the college premises, marking the official appointment of the new student leadership team for the academic year.

The event commenced with the welcome address delivered by Ms. Nipuni Jayaweera, who warmly welcomed distinguished guests, academic staff, and students. The highlight of the ceremony was the formal handover of Student Council tags, symbolizing the responsibility and commitment entrusted to the newly appointed council members.

COUNCIL MEMBERS

The council members for 2026 comprise  Vimukthi Chethan Fernando Attanayake – President,  Chaniru Nadin Rajapaksha – Vice President , Jayasanka Sadaruwan Alwis Thelikada Palliya Guruge – Asst Vice President, Disas Demika Wimalasooriya Dissanayake Mudiyanselage – Treasurer,  Kavisha Rashmika Jayakody Arachchige – Asst Treasurer, Withanaachchi Gauravi Sachinthani Jayawickrama – Secretary,  Binuri Ovindi Gallage Gallage – Asst Secretary, Imashi Chamodya Ariyarathna Gamaethige Dona – Sports coordinator and Kolamunna Mestrige Asith Lison Kulathilake – Editor.

The event coordinators are Nipun Pramod Bandara Ranthilaka Ranthilaka Mudiyanselage and Vethum Anusas Keerthisinghe Abeysekara Gamlathge. The committee members are Rafith Arham Rameez, Gunitha Geenod Bogoda and Samadhi Nihinsa Withana Withanage Dona.

The ceremony was graced by the presence of the college management and academic staff, including Dean of Studies Dr. Alan Robertson who officially presented the council tags to the newly elected representatives. Addressing the gathering, he emphasized the importance of leadership, teamwork, and responsibility in shaping a dynamic student community.

The newly installed Student Council expressed their commitment to representing the student body, organising meaningful activities, and supporting the academic and social development of students at the institution.

The ceremony concluded with appreciation for the outgoing council and best wishes extended to the newly appointed members as they embark on their leadership journey.

LEADERSHIP BEYOND THE CLASSROOM

Being part of the Student Council is more than a title, it is a journey that offers students real-world leadership experience, collaborative teamwork, and personal growth. It equips them with soft skills, confidence, and the courage to take initiative, qualities that will serve them well in their academic journey and future careers.
