View(s):New school modules which are to be introduced in 2027 will be open for public scrutiny with the government welcoming feedback to improve the proposed curricula, Deputy Education Minister Madhura Senevirathna said.
He said the government decided to delay the implementation of the education reforms for Grade 6 for the benefit of students and teachers.
“The decision to postpone the start of the Grade 6 new modules was to give the student, teacher and even parents a chance to learn about the proposed changes. We don’t want anyone to have any suspicions about the reforms,” he said.
Cabinet spokesman Minister Nalinda Jayatissa announced on Tuesday that Cabinet had decided to implement the proposed education reforms for Grade 6 from 2027 due to the problems surrounding content in its English module.
