New circular on setting up timetables for Grades 6-13
View(s):The Education Ministry has issued a fresh circular to principals of state and state-approved private schools and piriven on setting up school timetables for Grade 6 to 13 students.
The circular was issued Wednesday, January 14, after the cabinet decided to postpone the proposed Grade 6 education reforms until 2027. The circular instructed that the previous year’s curriculum be used for Grade 6 students during this year as well.
The circular stated that the previously issued circulars issued on the setting up school timetables for Grade 6-13 issued on November 4, 2025 the circular issued on December 16, 2025, and the circular issued on guidelines to setting up timetables issued on January 2, have been temporarily suspended.
Accordingly principals should set up school timetables for Grade 6 to 13 classes and get them approved. They should be implemented from January 21 onwards.
The 2026 second and third terms would be implemented as mentioned in the 2026 circular, while there will not be any changes made to exam dates published by the Examinations Department. -KW
