Roland Silva Oration on Wed
View(s):The 20th anniversary celebration of the National Trust Sri Lanka and the Dr Roland Silva Oration will take place on Wednesday, November 26 at 5 pm at the College of Surgeons, 6, Independence Avenue, Colombo 7.
The Dr Roland Silva Oration will be delivered by Dr Nilan Cooray, Director General, Central Cultural Fund. The evening’s programme will also include a film on Dr Roland Silva, and the award ceremony for the competition on Intangible Heritage publications, as well as an exhibition in the foyer.
Dr Cooray is a chartered architect, heritage conservationist and management specialist. His doctoral studies at Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands analysed the architectural composition of the landscape design of Sigiriya with a particular emphasis on the design tools and techniques employed. He joined the Central Cultural Fund in 1989 and is now its Director General as well as chairing the Galle Heritage Foundation. He is President of ICOMOS (Sri Lanka) and a Trustee of the National Trust Sri Lanka.
