The Country Music Foundation (CMF), at the end of its 37th anniversary charity concert Country Roads, has made two donations with the proceeds from the October 19 show, for children in need.
The first donation of Rs500,000 was made to the Appe Lanka Foundation, a Colombo-based charity that works in the Poonakary division in northern Kilinochchi District for its upcoming year-end Olivia Christmas Programme.
The programme will host approximately 500 students for a day filled with fun, engaging activities and entertainment and includes a special feature where Santa Claus gifts each child a set of exercise books, encouraging them to continue their educational journey.
The second donation of Rs175,000 was made to the Foundation of Goodness (FOG) for its Essential School Supplies Programme for the 2026 school year in support of rural, disadvantaged students. FOG said it has received over 7,000 requests from students across the island for support. With each pack priced at Rs5,400, containing a school bag, 8 CR books, two pens and a voucher to purchase school shoes, the CMF donation will help provide school packs for 32 schoolchildren.
The CMF thanks its patrons, sponsors, volunteers and musicians for engaging in a lovely evening on October 19 and making these donations a reality. A CMF spokesman said that after finalising the final accounts from the show, more donations are likely to be made.
