Annaya bags second hard court Singles title
Annaya Norbert, who clinch the Women’s Open Singles triple, continued her winning form after bagging her second Singles title of the ongoing SLTA Yeti Hard Court National Tennis Championship 2025 at Greenpath, Colombo yesterday.
She recorded a comfortable straight win against Githmi Fernando to emerge the Girl’s Under-18 Singles champion, following her 6/2, 6/0 wins. Following the double, Annaya now will be focused on her potential triple crown after qualifying for the final of the Girl’s Under-16 Singles, where she will face Sandithi Usgodaarachchi today.
Meanwhile four Doubles semi-finals were worked concurrently, one of Men’s Open and the three in the junior age group. In the Girls’ Under-14 category, the pairings of Sethuli Muthugama and Samaira Fernando and Yufansa Ratnaayake and Dinethma Ekanayake reached the finals while Avin Dias and Buvindu Jayawardena will face Nuren Wevita and Shannon Senadhee Boys’ Doubles final. In the Men’s Open Doubles, brothers Thehan Wijemanne and Methwan Wijemanne reached the final to meet Anuja Abeywickrama and Wenuka Kithnula, also today.
