Tea workers cautious over wage hike

View(s):

Tea workers across Hatton, Maskeliya and Bogowanthalawa are cautious about the new wage hike, saying they would wait for the January 2026 payment to see whether this increased wage would be implemented. They also raised concerns over the requirement to work 25 days to be eligible for the increase. “What happens if we work for 24 days?” one worker asked.
