IBSL to host National Banking and Finance Conference
View(s):The Institute of Bankers of Sri Lanka (IBSL) will host the National Banking & Finance Conference (NBFC) 2025 under the theme “Digital Transformation and Financial Sustainability” on December 1-2 in Colombo. This is the inaugural session of the series IBSL plans to host every year.
The two-day conference will bring together senior bankers, policymakers, regulators, and academics to discuss how digital innovation and adaptation are reshaping Sri Lanka’s financial sector to foster sustainability.
The Chief Guest will be Dr. P. Nandalal Weerasinghe, Governor of the Central Bank while the keynote dddress will be delivered by Dr. Hans Wijayasuriya, Chief Advisor to the President on Digital Economy.
The first panel discussion on “Digital Banking Adaptation & Green Financing” will feature an opening keynote by Sandun Hapugoda, Country Manager, Sri Lanka & Maldives, Mastercard. Dilshan Rodrigo, Director and CEO of Union Bank, will moderate the discussion, with the participation of Dr. Kasun Perera, Senior Lecturer, Department of Finance, University of Colombo, and Harsha De Silva, Senior Manager – Global Operations, LankaPay (Pvt) Ltd, as panellists.
The second panel discussion on “Compliance and Regulatory Aspects Related to Digital Banking” will feature an opening keynote by Dr. W. A. Wijewardene, former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka. The discussion will be moderated by Dr. Ayesh Ariyasinghe, Additional Director, Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU), Central Bank with contributions from J. P. R. Karunarathna, former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank, Dr. Thusitha B. Abeysekara, Attorney-at-Law, Head – Legal Studies Unit, Senior Lecturer in Law, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, and Dr. Lasantha Senaratne, Company Secretary, Sampath Bank PLC, as panellists.
