Holy Cross Gampaha win Division ‘D’ Badminton Championship
View(s):Holy Cross College, Gampaha clinched the All-Island Girls’ Division ‘D’ Inter-School Under-13 Team Badminton Championship held at the Municipal Indoor Stadium in Kandy. The tournament, conducted by Sri Lanka Schools Badminton Association, was held during October 9 and 13, as Holy Cross shuttlers beat Maliyadeva Model School, Kurunegala by 3-0 in the finals.
In the preliminary round they beat Maliyadeva Model School, Kurunegala 3-0, Yasodara Balika Vidyalaya, Colombo 3-0, Buddhist Ladies College, Colombo 3-0 and Princess of Wales College, Moratuwa 3-0 to reach the next round.
The champion team, led by Thisali Nagasena, included vice captain Bumesha Kumarasinghe,
Disali Nagasena, Shiloh Kahandawaarachchi, Rasangi Bocks, Sanuji Karunarathne, Chithuli Perera, Sadewna Kurera, Sheruni Fernando, Lithuli Karunarathne and Nethu Sidasna. The team is trains under Head Coach Mahesha Ekanayake with the guidance of Pushpa Perera, the teacher in-charge.
