Gymnast Sandali move to national No.3 rank
View(s):Sandali Shehara Warakapitiya of Sirimavo Bandaranaike Vidyalaya, Colombo, secured third place in gymnastics at the 49th National Sports Festival 2025, held at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium in Colombo. Sandali’s routines also earned her the National No.3 ranking.
Earlier this year, Sandali received double honours at the All-Island School Games 2025, being crowned both All-round Champion and Best Athlete. Having taken up the sport as a Grade 1 student back in 2013, Sandali has represented her school since Grade 3 (2015) and the Western Province since Grade 6 (2018), earning both school colours and provincial colours along the way.
She trains under national coach Ranjana Tharanga and is well supported by her school, Sirimavo Bandaranaike College, headed by Dr. J. Sumedha Jayaweera.
