14th CBL Samaposha U-14 Inter-School National Football kick off in November

CBL Samaposha continued their commitment as proud sponsor of the Samaposha Under-14 National Football Championship for the 14th consecutive time, where over 12000 youngsters from over 620 schools are set to compete. Organised by the Sri Lanka School Football Association (SLSFA), the Samaposha Under-14 National Football Championship is scheduled to be held during November and December. The Football Federation of Sri Lanka (FFSL) plays an important role, providing guidance and direction for the tournament.

With over 12,000 school football players taking part in the tournament, the enthusiastic response to the school football championship over the years, has been exceptional from schools islandwide. Participants for the championship are from all 25 districts of the island and matches are to be held in 32 centres, with 510 boys’ teams and 110 girls’ teams competing. From the preliminary rounds of the tournament, the top 32 boys’ teams and 24 girls’ teams will qualify for the second round scheduled in Galle at three locations including the Dadella Sports Complex, BTS and FFSL grounds.

The first round of the tournament begins in November, followed by the second round, which will be held from December 5 to 7 in Galle. The final rounds will be held on December 13 at the Racecourse ground in Colombo. Special recognition and awards are to be presented at the end of the tournament for the best player from the boys and girls categories and the best goalkeeper.

“This year’s competition draws attention for giving students from remote areas a chance to compete with multiple Under-14 teams. We have high expectations and sincerely thank CBL Samaposha for their continued support in making the championship a success,” the President of SLSFA, Bandara Leelarathna, said.

The 32 boys’ teams to qualify for the second round, will be drafted into eight different groups consisting four teams each, while the 24 girls’ teams will be listed into three teams in eight groups. The top teams will advance to the final round slotted to take place on December 13 at the Racecourse ground.
