Entries for Kandy All-Island Open Championships now accepted
The Central Province Badminton Association (SPBA) will accept entries for the Kandy All-Island Open Badminton Championships 2025 until October 11, as the central hills is expected to become abuzz with top shuttlers from all parts of the country for seven consecutive days in action.
The seven-day National Ranking Level 1 competition sanctioned by Sri Lanka Badminton (SLB), will be held from October 19 to 26 at the Provincial Council Sports Complex, situated at Digana, Rajawella in Kandy. The championship will feature a wide range of events from Under-11 to Under-19 in the Junior category and Over-30 to Over-70 in the Senior category, including three Combined Age groups of 120+ for Veterans.
The main attraction of the competition will be the Open events comprising of Men’s and Women’s Singles, Doubles and Mixed Doubles, with the losers of Men’s and Women’s Singles from their first games guaranteed a passage to the Plate Segment. The opening ceremony of the tournament will take place on October 19 at 9:00am, followed by the preliminary rounds, leading up to the quarter-finals and semi-finals by October 24. The excitement will continue on October 25 and 26 with the highly anticipated semi-finals and final matches, concluding with the Closing Ceremony to mark the culmination of the championship.
A combined prize money of Rs.750,000 for all events based on the number of entries will be on offer, in addition to trophies, medals and certificates guaranteed for winners, runners-up and semi-finalists of each event of the tournament.
