Yatinuwara PS Chairman suicide: Money lender questioned

Investigations into the suicide of the Yatinuwara Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman and the murder of his wife and daughter have focused on a money lender in Kandy.
The Pradeshiya Sabha Opposition leader Champika Nilantha had left behind a suicide note before he reportedly strangled his wife and child and took his life, and based on the initial findings police had questioned the money lender.
The money lender is alleged to have held people at ransom and blackmailed them if the transactions were not settled in time.
The investigations is now headed by a Senior Superintendent Eric Perera and a team under him. In the initial inquires, it is learnt that a Senior Superintendent in Kandy whose name was found in a suicide note left by the Opposition Leader has been cleared of any involvement.
