CEPA-ODI dialogue on Sri Lanka’s Economic Growth
View(s):A keynote policy dialogue was held at the Postgraduate Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences (PGIHS), University of Peradeniya, on June 20, bringing together leading academics, policy experts, and students. The event was jointly hosted by the Overseas Development Institute (ODI), the Centre for Poverty Analysis (CEPA), and PGIHS, University of Peradeniya, as part of their ongoing collaboration.
The seminar marked the relaunch of the publication “Sri Lanka: From Debt Default to Transformative Growth,” a timely collection of 14 essays by 24 Sri Lankan and international experts.
Keynote speakers at the seminar included Dr. Sirimal Abeyratne, Executive Director of CEPA and Emeritus Professor of Economics at the University of Colombo; Dr. Ganeshan Wignaraja, Visiting Senior Fellow at ODI and co-author of the publication; Dr. Herath Gunatilake, Senior Advisor at CEPA; and Prof. Dirk Willem te Velde, Director at ODI Global, joining virtually from London. While Prof. Wasantha Athukorala, Director of PGIHS welcomed the speakers, Prof. Jeevika Weerahewa from the Faculty of Agriculture facilitated the panel discussion, according to a CEPA media release.
